Students - Volunteer for our Conference in Chicago!

Working as a volunteer for conferences is a great opportunity for students to learn about what’s going on in their field of study and how researchers and practitioners apply theory in the real world. As a volunteer, you are often behind the scenes, but the first one asked for help, and that can lead to networking, as well as opportunities for future collaboration with other students, professors or practitioners. In fact, conferences are great opportunities to not only learn about internships, unpublished research and job openings but to get the inside scoop as well.

Volunteers from our past Psychologically Healthy Workplace Conferences have been pleased with their experiences. I’ve been told by volunteers that they liked being able to attend sessions for free, got to meet some of the psychologists they idolized and were happy to learn how widespread healthy workplace topics are and how many ways they could apply it in their own research. If you are a student interested in volunteering for our 2011 conference in Chicago, or you know students who may be, please see below for more details…

Are you a student who’s interested in helping out with the American Psychological Association Practice Organization's 2011 Psychologically Healthy Workplace Conference (PHWC)? Do you like to network? We could use your help!

As a PHWC Volunteer, you would be expected to work approximately 5 hours throughout the conference (Friday, April 8th – Saturday, April 9th, 2011) at the Westin O’Hare hotel in Chicago, IL. The work you would be expected to do ranges from handing out name tags, to setting up registration tables, passing out handouts, or answering questions from participants about times/locations of sessions.

In exchange for your help, we will waive your conference registration fee ($495). You can learn more about the conference here. Also, stay tuned for more information about submitting a proposal for our special student poster session.

Please email us with your cell phone number, email address and name of your school if you are interested in volunteering.
