Summary

This article focuses on the role of employee involvement in creating a psychologically healthy workplace. Though numerous perspectives on a healthy workplace exist, most of them take a very prescriptive approach. This article argues that the use of involvement strategies can lead to the design and implementation of healthy workplace programs that produce greater value, because they are tailored to the unique needs of an organization and its employees. Employee involvement is seldom discussed in the context of a healthy workplace, meaning that many researchers and practitioners have failed to consider this tailoring approach. The article also provides a continuum of involvement and some possible barriers to the use of employee involvement strategies.
