Summary

Focuses on the issue of controlling career development in the current work environment. The authors state that the new chaotic work environment has changed how careers develop. Instead of having one profession and working at one organization for their entire lives, employees now have to shift and change to keep up with the changing work environment. The authors describe the changing bond or psychological contract between employees and employers. The authors also talk about the issue of talent management. Since many top performers in companies intend on changing organizations, organizations must do what they can to keep their most effective employees. In order to meet employee demands, organizations are now more focused on issues such as work-life balance and flexible work schedules. The authors suggest having a career development program to keep top employees committed to the organization.

As importantly, we communicate our culture to associates, clients and prospects through many channels every day. This helps us align people with the goals of our business, and has contributed to our success with employee satisfaction and with company growth and profits."
